How Geographically Targeted Communication Works
By combining mapping software and notification services with geo-coded telephone data, 3n InstaCom GIS can send geographically targeted notifications by selecting a postal code, street address, bounded area, or radius from a specific point, or by using advanced geographic targeting features, such as plumes and donuts.
3n InstaCom GIS integrates the 3n mass notification system with geo-coded contact data that can be uploaded from customer databases and/or local telephone company databases along with intelligent street centerline data from Tele Atlas®. The 3n system leverages ArcGIS® from ESRI, the industry-standard Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, to geographically select an area or region and contact businesses and residents within the specified area.

Send messages to businesses and residents located in a specific geographical region defined by postal code, street address, radius from a specific point, or by using a polygon drawing tool to identify a neighborhood or other location. 3n InstaCom GIS provides an easy-to-use interactive map with standard map tools such as zoom and pan and directional shift. Standard zoom levels include the street, city, state, and country levels.
Customize the system with organization-specific data.
Easily add custom layers with organization-specific data—such as the location of hospitals, police stations, utility poles, and fire hydrants—to target communications more precisely and effectively. Standard 3n InstaCom GIS layers include points-of-interest, such as parks.

Organizations with multiple departments, locations, or districts can organize and manage the system in logical divisions. Each division operates autonomously while the umbrella organization can send messages to everyone in the system.

3n InstaCom GIS supports communication targeting based on pluming and donuts. Pluming enables users to respond to a dynamic emergency, such as chemical spill or fire, by alerting surrounding areas as the disaster expands over time. Donuts allow disaster workers to send out different alerts with different commands to geographic locations as they expand out from a central location.
